Keiths poem from the church service

Created by Keith 6 years ago

Poem, originally by David M Romano,  edited by Keith,
and read at the service by 9 year old Molly Baxendale.

When tomorrow starts without me,
I’ll not be there to see.
But if you should find your eyes
All filled with tears for me,
You know I’d wish you wouldn't cry,
Well, maybe just one day.

And please, you mustn’t think of things
We didn't get to say.

I knew how much you loved me,
As much as I loved you,
And every time you think of me,
I’d be sure you’ll miss me too.

So, remember all our yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad.
Remember all the love we shared,
The good times that we had.

And, if we could have one yesterday,
Even just a little a while.
I'd say good-bye and kiss you,
And want to see you smile.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Remember, we are not that far apart.
Because every time you think of me,
I'm right there, in your heart.

I had wanted to read the poem on Jack's behalf. I had practiced reading it so that I wouldn't be overcome with the emotion of the moment, but I still wasn't sure that I wouldn't be. Then, the night before the funeral, I heard Molly reading the poem quietly to herself, which set me thinking...  On the morning of the funeral I asked Molly to read the poem out loud for me, and then asked if she would read it at the funeral.  I think that all of us that heard her would have to admit that it was beautifully read.

Thank you Molly, you read it so much better than I could have.

Keith.
